The Problem: Your Catalog Has Blind Spots

The Problem

No single store carries everything a customer needs. A shopper buying a camera on your electronics store needs a camera bag, a tripod, and a memory card — but you only sell cameras. They leave to buy accessories elsewhere, and you lose the opportunity.

Network Intelligence solves this by creating a recommendation network across SellerZoom stores. When a complementary product from another store would genuinely help your customer, it appears alongside your own recommendations. Your customer gets a better experience, the partner store gets a sale, and you earn a commission.

This isn't an ad network or a marketplace. It's a recommendation network — the same AI that picks your best own-store recommendations also identifies when a partner's product is the right fit. The experience is seamless and the products are genuinely relevant.

How It Works Under the Hood

SellerZoom computes affinity between stores using three signals. First, catalog similarity: the system compares product embeddings across stores to find complementary (not competing) catalogs. A fashion boutique and an accessories store have high affinity; two competing fashion boutiques don't.

Second, category overlap analysis: Jaccard index scoring identifies stores with complementary but non-overlapping product categories — the sweet spot for cross-recommendations.

Third, referral success rate: as the network generates clicks and sales, the system tracks conversion rates per store pair and auto-boosts high-performing partnerships while deprioritizing low-converting ones.

Setting It Up: Step by Step

1

Enable Network Mode

Go to Settings → Network and toggle "Join the SellerZoom Network." This opts your store into the cross-store recommendation pool and begins the affinity computation process.

2

Set Your Commission Rate

Choose how much commission you're willing to pay when a partner store's recommendation drives a sale on your store (default: 8%). Also set your expected earning rate for sales you drive to partners.

3

Review Partner Matches

Within 24 hours, SellerZoom surfaces your top partner matches on the Network dashboard. Each match shows affinity score, category overlap, and estimated monthly referral volume. You can block specific stores if needed.

4

Configure Display Rules

Decide how network products appear: mixed into your recommendations (seamless) or in a separate "You might also like from partners" section. Most merchants start with the separate section, then switch to mixed after seeing quality.

5

Monitor & Optimize

The Network dashboard shows clicks, sales, commissions earned, and commissions paid. The system auto-optimizes partner rankings — high-converting partners get more visibility, low-performing ones fade. Review monthly.

Why a Recommendation Network Creates New Revenue

It monetizes traffic you're already losing. When a shopper can't find what they need on your store, they leave. With network recommendations, they find complementary products from a partner — you earn commission on that sale instead of losing the customer entirely.

The data flywheel compounds. More stores in the network means more cross-purchase signals, which means better affinity scoring, which means more relevant recommendations, which means higher conversion rates. Early network members benefit most from this compounding effect.

It's a hedge against catalog gaps. Instead of investing capital to expand into new product categories, you can fill those gaps with network partner products and earn commission revenue — testing demand before committing to inventory.

Pro Tip

Use the AI Product Finder with network mode enabled. When a shopper asks for something you don't carry, the chat widget can recommend partner products — turning a dead-end "no results" into a commission-earning referral.

Case Study: Specialty Electronics Retailer

Case Study

PixelGear Electronics

Background: PixelGear sells cameras, lenses, and photography equipment on Shopify (900 SKUs). Customers frequently asked about camera bags, lighting equipment, and editing software — categories PixelGear didn't carry.

Implementation: Joined the SellerZoom Network with an 8% commission rate. Matched with three partner stores: a camera bag brand, a lighting equipment retailer, and a photography accessories shop. Used the separate "Partner picks" display format.

Key insight: The highest-performing partner was the camera bag brand — shoppers who just bought a $1,200 camera readily purchased a $89 bag through the network recommendation. This cross-category pairing converted at 5.1%, nearly 2x the average network rate.
